Bank on wood for touch of premium sustainability

London, UK – 23rd June 2026: Forget putting it on the plastic, what today’s conscious consumer wants from a premium banking experience is the look and feel of a wooden card, earning them credit on account of its sustainability.

As banks compete for customers, new research from Copecto suggests sustainability and physical products are becoming increasingly important in premium banking.

The company’s Premium with Purpose report found nearly two-thirds of UK consumers (63%) believe banks should do more to make products and services sustainable.

More than two out of three consumers (68%) are interested in wooden payment cards in particular, with half of these (a third of all consumers surveyed) saying they would consider switching banks to obtain one.

Nearly half of those interested in wooden payment cards (48%) would also upgrade to a premium bank account if it included a wooden payment card, with this figure rising to 67% among the highest earners.

DG Nexolution – Card division grows to 100 million euros

Wiesbaden, DE – 22th June 2026: DG Nexolution generated total revenue of just under €210 million in the 2025 fiscal year—an increase of around €20 million over the previous year and the first time the company has surpassed the €200 million mark. CEO Marco Rummer announced these figures in an interview with *FinanzBusiness*. He also provided a detailed figure for the core business: revenue in the cards and payments segment amounted to between €90 million and €100 million in 2025, representing just under half of the group's total revenue. This figure encompasses the production of physical debit and credit cards, digital cards, card readers, pilot projects, and wearable payment solutions. In 2024, the cards division had contributed €82.8 million, or 45 percent of group revenue.

Rummer is targeting further growth in the medium term. "We aim to grow our revenue to €220 million by 2030—primarily within our core business, through startups such as Copecto, as well as the international wooden card and MeinPlus," he said. The startup portfolio is showing positive development: the customer loyalty program MeinPlus generated revenue of around €5 to €6 million in 2025, with the wooden card division achieving a similar scale.

Wooden payment cards tempt UK consumers to switch banks

London, UK – 19th June 2026: Copecto has published UK consumer research on demand for wooden payment cards, suggesting some customers would switch banks to get one.

The survey of 1,012 UK consumers found that 68% were interested in wooden debit or credit cards, while about a third said they would consider changing banks to obtain one. It also found that 63% believe banks should do more to make products and services more sustainable.

The findings suggest a potential commercial opportunity for banks looking to attract higher-income customers through premium current accounts and card products. Among respondents interested in wooden cards, 48% said they would upgrade to a premium account if it included one, rising to 67% among the highest earners.

Interest was strongest among affluent groups, a key target for banks competing on premium services. According to the research, interest in wooden cards rose to between 72% and 76% among consumers earning £40,000 to £150,000 a year.

Sustainability drives bank switching, Copecto research finds

London, UK – 18th June 2026: A third of UK consumers would consider switching their bank to access a wooden payment card, according to new research by Copecto, a sustainable payment card manufacturer, highlighting growing consumer appetite for environmentally conscious banking products.

The findings, published in Copecto’s “Premium with Purpose” report, reveal that 68% of consumers expressed interest in wooden payment cards. Of that group, half said they would switch banks to obtain one, representing roughly a third of all respondents. Nearly half of those interested (48%) would also upgrade to a premium account if it included a wooden card, a figure that climbs to 67% among the highest earners surveyed.

The report also found that 63% of consumers believe banks should be doing more to make their products and services sustainable. However, awareness of alternative card materials remains a significant obstacle, with more than half of respondents (56%) unaware before taking part in the survey that payment cards could be produced from anything other than plastic. Once informed about alternative materials and their comparable durability and functionality, preference for wood rose markedly, making it the most favoured card material overall.
